Hi Mentees! This is your guide to holding optimal mentorship sessions while taking part in OSEN's new mentorship program.

ABOUT THE OSEN MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Providing a work environment that is reflective of the needs of employees has, and always will be, a priority for our organization. It is essential that we provided the tools and resources that encourage employees to be their authentic selves and support them in developing the skills that support their ultimate success. Establishing this mentor program is another step in our continuous journey in being an employer of choice. The goal of this program is to:

  • Promote a culture where employees can take further ownership of their personal and professional development through the attention and guidance provided by mentors

  • Create a more inclusive environment by utilizing an avenue that creates bonds between people they may have never otherwise interacted

  • Provide a safe space where employees can share thoughts and ideas and receive feedback

  • Drive employee engagement and cross-organizational communication.

So, what's your role as a mentee in making that happen.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Utilize the site to view the mentors that available. Take time to review the profiles provided and search for key skills, experiences, positions, etc. that are relevant to you as a mentee

  • Schedule a session with a mentor

  • Formulate your own ideas of what you would like to get out of this relationship.

  • Identify your expectations for the mentoring relationship and share them with your mentor

  • Define your objectives and goals of the mentoring relationship and share with your mentor

  • Set the agenda for each meeting as you are the one that should be driving the session

  • Identify and agree upon action items from each meeting that you will be accountable for

  • Be prepared to discuss challenges and success as to the action items you agreed upon


WHAT TO DO

As a mentee, your main objective is to find the mentors you wish to connect with quickly and effortlessly! But first - let's get you set up.

Below are the steps you should follow to optimize your experience on Mentorly.


① Sign Up

To sign up to one of the mentorship portals below

☞ Click OSEN Mentorship Program to access the portal.

Once entered, you will be directed to your Dashboard where you can complete the steps indicated below.

Your Mentorly Dashboard is your very own control center where you can:


→ Modify your profile settings
→ Browse mentors via search to book sessions
→ Review and access your session bookings
→ Join your video calls

→ Review your experience

→ Contact live support


② Update your Profile


As a mentee, you'll see your profile settings when you log in. You are able to update and adjust these settings at any time.



② Browse mentors

Now that your profile is set up, you're all set to browse by either 1) heading to Home to view all featured mentors 2) clicking on Mentors to further search mentors by keyword or dropdown filter or 3) clicking on the Schedule page to view all available mentors by day and time.

③ Booking with a mentor

The next step to your journey is, of course, booking your session(s)!

Here's an example of a mentor profile for Fraser.

For example, the following mentee below, Ashley has decided to book with Fraser on May 19th.

First, she must click Book individual session, which will bring up his calendar availability, like so:


Ashley must add a booking message in order to confirm her session with Fraser.


Fraser will then be able to review the booking and any links that were shared within the booking message and you will view your future session in your Dashboard > Sessions Tab.

Note: Sessions are not automatically confirmed, you will get an email when it's confirmed by your mentor.

To cancel a session, click the 3 dots in the top right corner of the booking. You will receive an email confirmation of your booking. Keep an eye on your inbox!


⑤ Before joining your session

Since sessions are either 30 or 60 minutes in length.

→ Before joining your session, we recommend you test your computer setup.

Though Mentorly is accessible via mobile, in order to hold optimal sessions, we strongly recommend using a computer with a webcam and finding a quiet location with a strong and reliable Internet connection.


In either case, you will need to 1) ensure your device's browser is up to date and 2) that your webcam is properly connected.

⚠️ Mentorly supports all up-to-date browsers except 🚫 Microsoft Edge/Internet Explorer and some 🚫 Bluetooth devices such as ear pods may conflict with the platform, so we recommend disconnecting them prior to holding your sessions.


⑥ Join your session

To join your session, you can either 1) click the link in the email, like so:

or, 2) Log into your account and head to your Dashboard > Sessions Tab.

When ready to start your session, click Join call on your session booking on Dashboard > Sessions Tab > Future > first booking at the top of the page.

You can always join your sessions 10 minutes in advance if ever you want to make sure you're properly set up when the clock starts.

🚨 There's a countdown timer in the top left corner of your session window. Keep an eye on it as the session will automatically end at the designated time.

Note: Clicking the 🏴 icon will signal an issue with a specific Inbox thread and Mentorly will be directly notified.

How to Join Your Session


⑦ Reviewing your experience

The OSEN team would love to know how you appreciated your experience connecting with your mentor(s) and using the Mentorly platform.

After each session, you will be prompted by 3 questions with ⭐️ ratings:

1) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rate how you enjoyed connecting with your mentor. A less than 3-star rating will require you to leave a comment.

2) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rate the platform. Once again, 3 stars or less will require you to leave a comment.

3) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Leave additional feedback (optional).

These ratings and reviews will be shared with both the OSEN and Mentorly teams.
